St. Lawrence County Office of Emergency Services Bureau of Fire's Special Operations Team was formed to aid and assist local fire, rescue, and law enforcement agencies. The Special Operations Team consists of three branches; Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), Water Rescue/Recovery, and Technical Rescue.
Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Division
Deputy Fire Coordinator for HAZMAT - Kevin Durant (Car 13)
The Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) branch consists of volunteers from local fire, rescue, and law enforcement agencies. Members of this branch have significant training and experience including state and national HAZMAT Technician Certifications, EMT/Paramedic Certifications, Advanced HAZMAT Life Support, and multiple specialty certifications. The HAZMAT branch operates two trailers filled with specialized equipment, which are towed by local emergency management and fire department staff to expedite response to callouts.
