COVID-19 Travel Advisory

Domestic Travelers International Travelers Canada Additional Information

The travel guidelines require all New Yorkers, as well as those visiting from out-of-state or another country, to take personal responsibility for compliance in the best interest of public health and safety.

Domestic Travelers

People traveling within the United States and U.S. Territories should follow all CDC travel requirements, FOUND HERE  

  • Domestic travel is defined as travel lasting 24 hours or longer to states or US territories.
  • There are generally no quarantine, work furlough, or testing requirements for asymptomatic domestic travelers.

International Travelers

U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, U.S. Lawful Permenent Residents, and Immigrants traveling to and from the United States should follow all CDC travel requirements, FOUND HERE

Non-U.S. Citizens, Non-U.S. Immigrants traveling to the United States, visit Non-U.S. Citizen, Non-U.S. Immigrants: Travel to and from the United States for requirements before boarding a flight to the United States.

  • All air passengers, regardless of vaccination status, must show a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 1 day before travel to the United States. Children under 2 years old do not need a test. There is also an option for people who have documented recovery from COVID-19 in the past 9- days. 

Canada

Travelers from Canada, crossing at land borders subject to the agreement between the governments of the United States and Canada, are permitted to travel in accordance with said federal agreement and need not quarantine solely due to such federally authorized travel. Travelers flying between the US and Canada must follow the CDC guidance for international travel.
