Visitation Schedule


 

Initial Visit


Upon their request, each inmate shall be entitled to receive one (1) non-contact (secure) visit within twenty-four hours (24) hours after their admission to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility. Requests for initial visits may be arranged at time of admission to the facility. Initial visits will be made available at times not unduly disruptive to facility operations. For the purpose of this section, “times not unduly disruptive to facility operations” shall mean any time the facility is not in lock down status. Initial visits will be a maximum of thirty (30) minutes each.

Subsequent to the initial visit within twenty-four (24) hours of admission, inmates are required to submit to a P.P.D. (tuberculosis) test prior to any further visits, contact or non-contact, being granted.


Contact Visitation


Each inmate is entitled to two (2), one (1) hour visits per week. All visits are on a first come first serve basis by housing unit. No more than twenty (20) inmates and forty (40) visitors may occupy the contact visit room during any visitation period. This does not include one (1) child up to the age of five (5) who may accompany the visitor into the visitation room but must remain in the lap or held in the arms of the visitor only.

Rules for Contact Visitation


These rules apply to both inmates and inmate visitors. Failure to follow these rules will be grounds for disciplinary proceedings and termination of the visit.

In order to begin visits on time, all visitors must arrive twenty (20) minutes prior to the start of scheduled visitation time for processing. Visitors that arrive late will be turned away until the next scheduled hour of visitation for the inmate they request to visit.

Visitors must provide valid photo identification. Acceptable identification includes: 

  • Driver’s License
  • Military ID
  • Passport 
  • Immigration Card
  • School ID
  • Employee ID
  • Social Security Benefit Card 
  • Non-Driver ID issued by DMV
  • Birth certificate for children under the age of 18

Until the mask mandate is lifted, physical contact between visitors and inmates will be limited to a brief embrace at the beginning and end of a visit.

Inmates and visitors will remain seated in their designated seats at all times. 

Two (2) visitors and one (1) child up to the age of five (5) may enter the visitation area.

Children under eighteen (18) years of age will be accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian. Proof of guardianship must be supplied.  You will be responsible for the conduct of the children while on facility property (including the facility lobby, restrooms, parking lot and outside grounds).  Failure to exercise control may result in termination of the visit and removal from facility property.

If you leave the contact visitation room for any reason during the contact visitation time, re-entry will be denied and the visit terminated.

During an emergency, remain seated and follow the direction of the Correctional staff.

No items will be allowed to pass between the inmate and visitor. 

No foul, obscene language or loud or boisterous conduct will be tolerated.

The following will not be allowed:

  • Weapons;
  • Tobacco products, matches, lighters or drug of any kind (prescription or otherwise);
  • Food, drink, gum or candy;
  • Electronic devices (cell phone, smart watch, cameras or any other recording devices);
  • Pets;
  • Diaper bags, baby carriers, blankets, bibs, bottles or toys;
  • Personal keys;
  • Wallets/handbags;
  • Accessories such as watches, bracelets, broaches, pins, or clips;
  • Sunglasses;
  • Currency, checks or money orders;

Extremely brief garments such as tube tops, net tops, spaghetti straps, plunging necklines (front and/or back), tops that expose midriff, see-through garments, as well as short shorts and short skirts are not allowed.  Dresses, skirts and shorts may not be shorter then fingertip length when a person's arms are relaxed at their sides.  Underwear must be completely covered with outer clothing.  Footwear must be warn at all times.  Garments may not include items that are vulgar, obscene, and libelous or denigrate others on account of race, color religion, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation or disability.  Garments may not promote and/or endorse the use of illegal drugs and/or encourage other illegal or violent activities.  The Supervisor will make decisions when questions or concerns arise regarding the appropriateness of an individual's dress.

A locker is available in the lobby to hold all personal items not allowed in the visitation area for .25 cents.  The facility locker key will remain in your pocket at all times.

Visitors can address Correctional Staff with any questions regarding contact visitation.


Warning:  You are subject to a search anytime you are on facility property.  Any visitor who introduces contraband into the facility will be subject to arrest and access to facility property for purposes of visitation and money drop off will be terminated.  Visitors suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to visit.
