Public Hearing on 05/21/2024 to receive public comment on
St. Lawrence County’s Fair Housing Assessment
St. Lawrence County is preparing a Fair Housing Assessment that includes socioeconomic and demographic information about county residents, an overview of the County’s housing programs and goals, and actions to improve housing services, address housing discrimination, and promote equal housing opportunity in St. Lawrence County. Once adopted, the Fair Housing Assessment will serve as a guide for the County’s municipalities, the Fair Housing Task Force, and other fair housing stakeholders including landlords, tenants, service providers, and other organizations over the next five years.

Hard copies are also available for review at the County Planning Office at the 1st floor of the County Human Services Center at 80 State Highway 310, Canton.
A public hearing has been scheduled to give the public the opportunity to provide comments on the draft Assessment. The public hearing will be Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in Classroom A of the One Stop Career Center in the County Human Services Center, located at 80 State Highway 310, Canton. Staff from the County Planning Office will present an overview of the Assessment, then open the floor for discussion and feedback.
The public is invited to comment on the draft Plan by attending the May 21, 2024 public hearing. Those who cannot attend the public hearing in person may attend the public hearing via Zoom. After the public hearing is closed, written comments and suggestions on the Plan will be accepted until Friday, May 24, 2024.
After the public comment period has closed, the County Planning Office intends to present the Plan to the Board of Legislators on Monday, June 10, 2024. The Board of Legislators is anticipated to adopt the plan on July 1, 2024.
