NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON AG District Recommendations

Each year in March, St. Lawrence County accepts requests to add land to Agricultural Districts 1 and 2. This year, the County received requests from six property owners to add nine parcels:

  1. One .3 acre parcel at 7066 State Highway 37 in Oswegatchie
  2. One .8 acre parcel off Glebe Road in Lisbon
  3. Two parcels totaling 141 acres off Lacomb Road in Norfolk
  4. One 18.2 acre parcel at 124 Lacomb Road in Norfolk
  5. One .2 acre parcel off State Highway 72 in Parishville
  6. One 34.3 acre parcel at 68, 92 Ashton Road in Parishville
  7. One 159 acre parcel of Howardville Road in Pierrepont
  8. One 5 acre parcel at 747 Howardville Road in Pierrepont

The County Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board reviewed these requests at its meeting on April 6th and is recommending the Board of Legislators add these parcels to Ag Districts 1 and 2.

As part of the review process, St. Lawrence County will hold a public hearing online to give the public the opportunity to comment on these recommended additions. The public hearing will be on Tuesday, April 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the County Planning Office, located on the 2nd floor of the Public Safety Complex, 49 ½ Court Street in Canton.

After the April 20th public hearing, the Board of Legislators will adopt a resolution to either accept or reject these recommendations at its June 7th meeting. This resolution will then be forwarded to the Commissioner of the New York State Department of Ag and Markets for certification. For more information, email Matilda Larson at [email protected].
