There are free N-95 masks and COVID-19 home test kits available at St. Lawrence County’s DMV and Human Services Building entrance in Canton. There are also free COVID-19 home test kits available at the St. Lawrence County Court House, which can be found on a table outside of the Legislative Board Room. Items can be picked up Monday through Friday 8am – 4pm. If you stop by and do not see any home tests or masks out on the tables, please go to the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department to request these items.
Please be aware that after June 30th, 2022, the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department will no longer be contacting individuals who test positive for COVID-19. Those who test positive with a lab-confirmed test will still be notified of their result by the place where they were tested, but they will no longer receive a phone call from a St. Lawrence County Public Health or New York State case investigator. The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) ended its’ COVID-19 virtual contact tracing and case investigation (VCC) program on Friday, April 29th
Please continue to report positive home test results to the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department (SLCPHD) using the online form found on our website https://stlawco.org/Departments/PublicHealth. If you are unable to access the online form, please call the department during business hours, Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm, and we will assist you.
If you are symptomatic and have questions regarding your symptoms, please call your health care provider to discuss treatment options and next steps. If you are an older adult or someone who is at high risk of getting very sick, treatment may be available. Do not delay a call to your healthcare provider! Treatment must be started within a few days to be effective.
Isolation and Quarantine Guidance:
- Those who test positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, are still expected to follow New York State’s isolation guidelines, found on their website at: https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/isolation-quarantine
- Those who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should follow New York State’s quarantine guidelines found on their website at: https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/isolation-quarantine
- If you need isolation OR quarantine orders for work or school, obtain an AFFIRMATION OF ISOLATION or AFFIRMATION OF QUARANTINE from NYSDOH. They can also be found on the St. Lawrence County Public Health website.
