The St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office would like to inform the public of our participation in the CRASHDOCS program by Carfax.  With this program, you are able to search to find, save and/or print your accident report free of charge. 


At the time of your accident, a Deputy will provide you with a CRASHDOCS card that includes a Report number you will need to access your report along with your name and the date of the accident.


An example of the report number is 21S-12345.  The “21” is the year of the accident, “S” is for the Sheriff’s office.  An accident in 2020 would begin with “20”, an example being 20S-12345.  Reports are typically ready within 14 days.  
This information can be accessed on the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office webpage, stlawco.org/Departments/Sheriff where you will find the link to CRASHDOCS and the directions to retrieve your accident report. To access your report:

  1. Go to: crashdocs.org  
  2. Enter the State: New York
  3. Enter the Agency: St Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office
  4. Click on: Start Your Search
  5. Enter your Report Number: 21S-12345
  6. Last Name of Involved Party: “Your Last Name Here”
  7. Date of Accident: 01/01/2021
  8. Click on: Search Reports
  9. Choose Your Report by Clicking on: “Buy Now” (purchase is not necessary, report is free to involved parties)
  10. Certification Page: Click on the appropriate option, people involved in the accident will choose “I am a party involved in the Accident and I need a copy of the Police Report for my records and/or for insurance or legal purposes.”
  11. Enter your email address, Last Name, and First Name
  12. Click on: Agree and Continue
  13. You will get a confirmation page that you order was successful, click on: View Report
